Dual Language Program

Albert Einstein Academy is committed to developing the whole child.  Our dual-language program provides a crucial vehicle in that development. With instruction in both English and Hebrew, students experience the proven benefits of learning to speak more than one language at a young age.

Research shows that students in dual-language programs not only achieve at levels that are similar to or higher than those of their peers enrolled in other programs on standardized tests of reading and math in English, but they also are able to read and write at grade level in another language. This in turn positively affects general academic performance. (Lindholm-Leary, 2001; Thomas & Collier, 2002)

In addition, students in dual-language programs demonstrate:

  • Enhanced levels of meta-linguistic awareness (i.e., knowledge of how language works) which has proven to be important to reading acquisition.
  • Improved performance versus monolingual students on tasks that call for divergent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving.
  • Additional knowledge and understanding of one’s native language.
  • Greater understanding, tolerance, appreciation and respect for other languages and cultures.
